A trip to the unique garden of the living butterflies in the princely palace gardens in Bendorf-Sayn is a must for children and lovers of nature. Maria Laach, a place of cultural interest, the Vulkaneifel as well as the precious-stone stronghold Idar-Oberstein are worth a visit, too. Bad Ems is also an ideal starting point for a ceramics tour into the Kannenbäckerland or a hiking tour on the Lahn-Höhen-Weg, as well as for the mandatory castle tour along the rivers Lahn and (middle) Rhine. Bad Ems, by the way, also offers something for people who like wild motors, as the race track Nürburgring with its legendary Northern loop is not far away. Whoever is in the mood for it can do his own laps over there on the blazing asphalt with hot wheels. At the Nikolaus-August-Otto-Museum, which is located just ten kilometres away in Holzhausen, the place of birth of the famous motor inventor, one will find the roots of the car industry. And how about the traces of the Romans ? They can be found in form of pictures and texts at the Festung Ehrenbreitstein in Koblenz.
